Meditation is an integral part of the Buddhist
path. It is a powerful method to calm and focus the mind, thereby
bringing deep inner peace and a sense of physical and mental well-being.
It is also a method for bringing about a change in attitude and
so develop a more positive way of living.
Some people meditate simply to relax, others wish
to explore further the mind's potential. Whatever the inclination,
meditation has something to offer. It is one of the greatest gifts
we can give ourselves in this hectic world.
We offer a wide range of meditation classes and
study programs for all levels of experience, from complete beginners
to advanced practitioners. Our evening classes and guided meditations
are an excellent introduction into the practical applications of
Buddhist thought and practice. For those interested in studying
Buddha's teachings at a deeper level, try the more advanced study
programmes like the Foundation Programmes on offer at Amitabha Centre.
The Centre also offers weekend retreats and workshops and longer
retreats.
Anyone can learn meditation. You do not need to
be a Buddhist to attend the classes or to benefit from the techniques
taught.
